Bitter lemons, a photo from Kyrenia, West

Photographer's Note

I came across these lemons lying in a doorway in a backstreet in Girne (Kyrenia), Northern Cyprus, and liked the combination of vivid blue and yellow. (Title of photo with apologies to Lawrence Durrell).

this is really interesting photo. I like the colors of the objects, but you are out of focus for the right lemon.

Your Blue and Yellow composition is simply superb. It is something we come across on numerous occasions but never think of capturing on camera. You have done an excellent job.

Hi Ryno ! so colourful and great effect with the combination between intense yellow and blue in that minimalist detail , bitter flavour (of the lemons) but sweet and vivid sensation the image shows ! Nice day !!

Hi Ryno - the lemons are slightly too bright, but thats being too picky given the marvelleous colourfest this photo offers.

Good colours... blue with yellow gives an interesting composition...
I think however that these yellow lemons are slightly oversaturated...

Hi Ryno,
you are right, it catches the eye! I like the contrast of the yellow over the nice blue color. In a vertical position, you would have put emphasis on it even more! Thanks a lot for rending this ordinary view to a splendid picture.

Hi Ryno,

Very nice idea, good close-up. The contrast between the lemons and blue door is very extreme, I like that. Nice compo, each of the main strong colours (blue, yellow, greytones) take about 1/3 of the shot. I like that, another way of implementing the rule of thirds.
The yellow hurts a bit, a bit less saturation or a bit darker (decrease highlights) would be finer, I think.
The focus seems to be fine, but the DOF is quite narrow, and some places fall slightly out of focus, where sharper focus would have still been nice.
Nevertheless great work! As said, very strong colours!

What a great photo!! I even the read the book. The contrast of colours is beautiful as are the lines of the photo. The composition is very good and the title very appropriate!!
