A view of Bromo from the Penanjakan Summit. The smoky mountain in the background is Mt.Semeru, an active volcano.

Should you want to take Bromo from this spot, it is advisable to stay in Tosari instead of the usual Ngadisari village. It is a shorter hike from there. You need to go off at 1AM to catch the sunrise if you stay at Ngadisari. From Tosari, 3AM is enough to catch the sunrise.
