[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Niagara Region in Ontario has a lot more to offer than one giant waterfall and gambling. Vineyards and orchards, lovely homes and history, and just a few minutes from anywhere is the great outdoors. The Ball's Falls area near Jordan is a lovely nature walk, and historical as well, preserving buildings and stoneworks from the old mills in the area.

This is the lower falls, the water coming from the Niagara Escrpment, and flowing down the Jordan River to Lake Ontario. Crystal clear.

All comments and critiques on this photo are welcome.

As time flows like a river to the sea, life moves on, and so many things must be done. I do enjoy this little photo hobby, and some times too much, since it takes time away from many of the other things I should be doing. This will be my last post. For a while, perhaps. Many thanks to all who have looked through my photos and left a comment behind. May your heart laugh like the brook when it trips and falls over stones on its way. Be well, and do good.

You used a good exposure to capture the gushing of the water very well here Michelle, and I like the way you've composed the shot so the water takes centre stage amongst the surrounding rocks.
I hope you won't stay away from TE for too long. I know photography's a time-consuming activity but even busy mums need time to explore their own interests so don't give it up altogether :) Take care...

I love waterfalls, Michelle, and especially this time of the year when they are running high. But actually they don't need a lot of water to be impressive - it's more a question of how they fall. You've caught a lovely stream of water passing over a sudden edge, where some steps help it gush a little extra on it's way down. It's nice capture, where I'd like some more focus on the rapids and also the water oozing between the layers of rock - so I tried a workshop to enhance an otherwise lovely nature shot. Well done!

I understand your need of a break - I sometimes feel that too - take as long as you like and come back when it suits you. Thanks for your nice words. Be well - and do good, you too!

Hi Michelle,

A good POV of this lower waterfalls, you captured well de water movement which is an asset to the photo. It has a good composition and nice colors.

Hi Michelle a very good capture, indeed spot on on the exposure and nicely composed too. I can feel the fresness of this place.
I'd like to endorse the words of Jennifer. You have your own place on TE Michelle, it will be a shame if stays open too long, I always enjoy your pics and thoughtful comments. Be well my friend!

Hi Michelle
it is nice to browse through your gallery and to know what you you have been upto lately.
I agree with your note about the Niagara Region, it is definitely much more than the big waterfalls. I lived in NOTL for four months last year and I would definitely call it as a place where I felt living so very close to the nature. the whole area has a different ambience during the weekday when there are few tourists around. I used to do blade all the way to the niagara falls in the early mornings of the summer (around 5-6 in the morning) and I can tell you that it was an excellent experience
thanks for bringing back the memories from that place
ciao ... sarju

Great shot... I just wanted to be the one to give u ur 1000th smiley ;-p

Hello michelle,
Nice shot of waterfall (and like them too as you can see if you visit my gallery). The POV is nice. I like soft colours and great sharpness.
I was just wondering : did you made some tests with long time exposure to have an other type of result that is sometime interesting with waterfall?.
Kind regards
JMarc

It is always nice to watch flowing water, great shot!
I would only suggest you to try out a different approach to capturing waterfalls next time.
Set aperture to the max and exposition to 1/4 or around and you immediately get magnificent silk instead of water. Try out to google for 'silky waterfall' images and you'll know what I'm suggesting.
Good luck!

Hi Michelle, they are maybe smaller than the big falls, but I like this picture, very clear with good contrast, well presented, thanks for your time !
