The drive to Sonmarg is through a spectacular facet of countryside in Kashmir, the Sindh Valley. Sonmarg, which means 'meadow of gold' has as its backdrop, snowy mountains against a cerulean sky. Located at an altitude of 2800 mts. the majestic Sindh meanders along here and abounds with trout and mahseer. Ponies can be hired for a trip up to Thajias glacier - a major attraction during the summer months.
Sonmarg's importance is two-fold: It is the starting point for several major treks passing mountain lakes -like Vishansar, Kishansar, Gadsar, Satsar and Gangahal. One trek leads all the way to the famous Amarnath cave. The other reason for Sonmarg's importance lies in the fact that it is the last halt on the Kashmir side for the drive from Srinagar to Ladakh. The Zojila Pass dividing the lavish Kashmir valley from the barren landscapes of Ladakh, is about two and a half miles from Baltal, the last village in Kashmir.
Sonmarg offers some of the best camping sites in the valley. Some of the best sites are near the mouth of the Glacier valley. Snow front fishing can be enjoyed in the river at Sonmarg.
The best time to visit Sonmarg is during spring, when the meadows are in full bloom and the weather is mild.

Nice compositon and POV. I like the blue tones of the photo. TFS

Good composition. You have framed the road beautifully. Have you deliberately included the patch (on the road) in the frame? As it is Kashmir there may be some sheeps/goats on this road! Of cousrse that will change the mood of this pic.

WOW, wonderful composition!!!
The path going into the woods, the double-colored plan, the soft colors... Everything is very harmonious in your picture. And the perspective is great.
You did a very good job here, Sabyasachi!
Congratulations!
Andra :)

Hello Friend
Another excellent image from you. The road seems to disappear into the horizon. Great colours. Keep posting.

Beautiful landscape, Sabyasachi. Shabaash and well done!
The perspective is superb. The road snakes away into the distance, adding a charming dimension to the already existing great depth of view.
The colours and contrasts are wonderful.
