El Nido Main Land Photo

Photographer’s Note

Sunday morning, on our way to church in the main land, the air was filled with mist, I was shooting against the sunrise which caused dark shadows on the tree covered hills of the mainland. The mist was highlighted by the rays and boats parked near the island were just standing still.

I wanted a good shutter as I was on a boat when I took this. No PP performed. I just framed it.

08 May 2006 - I just got back from vacation, I think everyone agrees that I should have not cropped the boat. I did not take any other shots when I thought I already captured what I needed, the mist, boat, trees, good rays of light.

Rommel, very nearly a great shot, full of atmosphere and nicely exposed. However, it's a pity that the detail of the boat on the right is cut off by the frame. Very good attempt. Stephen

It is a very nice picture that you have captured Rommel. I have to mention one or two things here. Firstly I would like to have the whole boat in the picture-see that the right side is not completely there in the pic. I am saying this because to me the boat is one of the most important thing in your composition other than the mist in the background with the sun beam playing a beautiful effect on it. Secondly the trees in the background are very dark, that is due to the fact that you have captured it against the sun. But that whole big dark thing is not helping your picture. But that is not in your hand, so you have nothing to do here. Otherwise a very nice capture. I like the coconut trees seen through the mists, the effect of sun light on the mist and of course the boat! Thanks for sharing.

You've created very nice composition catching this fog effect. I like the blue colors on photo. I agree with russte, it's a pity that a piece of boat is cut...

A superb and very moody shot!
The early morning atmosphere is well captured and conveyed... One minor issue as it is a pity you cut into the banca! Maybe you have other shots covering all?

I must say, a very beautiful composition. I love the ghost like effect of the coconut trees in the mist on the left shore.

Une atmosphère très particulière renforcée par la brume et la lumière spéciale qui éclaire les cocotiers en arrière plan. La composition est très intéressante. On peut regretter que le bateau soit un peu coupé à droite et, pour ma part, j'aurais envie de recadrer en supprimant totalement le ciel.Une photo qui ne laisse pas indifférent, Rommel!

i think,againsting sunrise makes a monotone picture that no need to have post production again.so nature. beautiful shot.and cropped boat is not serious problem.this picture makes you turn to be professional.

Hi Rommel. I like this very much. It has a lot of mysterious appeal. The mist is a plus and the catamaran looks good. Maybe a little less crop on the right margin but an excellent photograph. TFS. Murray.
