During my bike cycle trip I saw this potato field, on one mile of the Netherlands coast, really a great artwork of the farmer, you can see the blue sky, again one of this days with polar air stream, this gives these wonderful colour.
I find the lines and perspective very nice, and I hope you like it too.

Potato etymology in accordance “From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia”

The Quechua word for potato is "papa". In the 16th century, the potato was introduced to Spain (the first record is from Sevilla, around the year 1570) and from there to the rest of Europe, North America, Africa and Asia. The name "potato" comes from the Spanish word "batata" meaning sweet potato. Sweet potato had arrived much earlier, Christopher Columbus himself had brought it back from the Caribean. Potato and sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) have only a very distant relationship with the sweet potato. But because the edible part of both crops is an underground organ (a root in the case of sweet potato), they have often been confused.

This is the original picture.

Hi John, once more, great strong patterns of this field, thanks to you, the farmer and Columbus! Regards, Daniel

Wow, John, what a image. You have done an excellent job here to show the sharpness and details of the field. Nice perspective view and beautiful contrast. An impressive picture.

Dag, John.

Hi,
what a good perspective and nice colours. I like especially graphism of the lines and the 'propotions' of the picture you have chosen: 1/3 of the picture for sky and 2/3 for the fields.
beautiful image.

hi john,
amazing - looks as if a graphic designer laid his hands on this field :-))
fantastic precission, and lovely photo;
best wishes, j.

Goed weekend........... tars

Hi John!
Good graphic composition.I like the lines in all directions.Specialy I like how the shadows works from left to right in earth canals.
Colors,sharpness,angle of view...+++.

Farm art indeed ... interesting pattern and of course very well taken. Cool.

It is another compelling use of the graphism provided by the field, John. The intersecting pattern of lines on the ground gives a strong impression and is rendered in an almost 3D fashion, supported by the angle in which the sunlight shines on everything. Towards the right it seems to show some traces of oversharpening, but I can imagine that such a delicate pattern as the one you have here on the ground is very tricky to handle.

Hi John,
Nice graphism there, i like the way the lines darken towards the right... i d be tempted to say good depth of (potato) field, coz that is true!

Dag John,

heel mooi lijnenspel John,
Nee, heel mooi werk John.

Hello John,
A nice composition, very graphical.
I might have cropped the foreground and sky to make a panoramic.
I try a little WS.

Bonsoir John

Amicalement,
Josep

Hello John,
Yes it's like an artwork in the sand!
The lines and the geometria are great
and the composition you made is fantastic.
Perfect work very well seen!

Hi John,
Nice catch and well spotted. Plenty of lines to draw the eye all over the place :)
My main beef is the sharpening... there's too much of it and I find it very distracting (as in, I thought "oversharpened" before "nice shot").
Thanks for sharing, Lewis.

Hi John,
What an amazing capture of these patoto fields, once again!
The graphic effect, given by those lines is outstanding and of such a strong visual effect. Great perspective from this POV. I love it! Congratulations!
TFS,
Have a great weekend,
Ricardo

Zeer goed werk!

John, Very good composition of man harnessing nature for food. The Dutch have a reputation for being hard-working and a bit fussy, this photo is more proof of these admiable characteristics. Good POV to show the perfect furrow. Good work. Murray.

Hi John. What an excellent graphical shot. Even though it looks like you took this in the middle of the day you still have a good shadow. The simplicity of the colors I love. Well done John!

Dag John,
Sterke kleuren.
Guy

Dag John, the Master of Geometry !
These potato fields make a superb subjec for compositions built on leading lines and perspective, and it is just what we get to see here, I like the shades variations from left to right, very nice graphic one John.
Have a nice week end, groeten,

Hi John,
Indeed the potato field is like some modern work of art. The lines and graphism are amazing - perhaps this farmer should take up painting on the side...I also like the crisp clear image and clarity of detail. The green verge on the left provides good contrast and the distant trees help balance as well as give a sense of depth. A very pleasing shot, John.
John

Best regards.
Daniel.

Amazing graphic shot you posted,John,
Excellent contrast, excellent POV and graphism indeed, and very beautiful, the row of trees there and green parts adds to this beauty, nicely composed and Thanks John,

Hallo John.
Groet Rob

Netherlands seems to be a photographer's haeven, especially if one wants to study perspective. Another nice shot well showing the depth of *field* in literal meaning. Very well seen and done.

Hi John,

Thanks for sharing this great shot!

Hello John, this is another fabulous shot of these fields. The furrows look so regular it looks like they must have been sculpted by a computer. Maybe a robot drove the tractor? Anyway they play with the light perfectly making these wonderful lines of light and dark.

It's famer art, for sure, but maybe the farmer is not even conscious of what he creates. That's why you took your bicycle and went there to show to the world what you have in your mind.
Beautiful scene
