Photographer’s Note
Hi!
This photo was taken on the upper left side of the main gate of the Convent of Christ in Tomar.
This Gate is a work of João de Castilho and it was worked with Manueline and Renaissance motifs (XVIth century).
The Convent of Christ as been classified as Unesco World Heritage in 1983.
The motif I put this photo was to make a call of attention to the conservation problems in the monuments that are a symbol of History. The plants we see on the picture, specialment his roots, are destroying the fine sculpture work, that is World Heritage, it belong to all of us.
To all Governments: Conservation is needed, don't let History and Art be destroyed.
Regards
Aida

Bonsoir Aida,

Aida,
This one is a response to mine with a nice portuguese sculpture.
It is a pity, but during my last trip to Portugal I didn't had time to visit nor Tomar, nor Guimaraes... I was staying in deep Portugal(Gois)...
But I saw plenty of nice things.
I suggest next time you force the flash (or use a tripod if you prefer natural light) because you are out of focus here.
So, when do you post a picture of Guimaraes ??
Eric /.
PS : Use portuguese to communicate if you prefer.
