Photographer’s Note
The Delphin Renaissance, a prominent cruise liner, operated by Dr Holdings, UK, called at Muscat’s Port Sultan Qaboos, on April 22, 2006. The vessel arrived with 467 tourists and 334 crew on board.
The ship sailed in from India and will be proceeding to Fujairah as the next port of call.
I just happened to pass by the port when I spotted the cruise liner and took a snap of it.
Interestingly the Delphin Renaissance happens to be the first cruise liner to have called on the Port of New Orleans in the post Katrina era when it docked there on December 31, 2005.
“The arrival of the Delphin Renaissance marks the first step in the recovery of the cruise industry in New Orleans,” Gary LaGrange, president and CEO of the Port of New Orleans had said. “The cruise industry’s growth created new opportunities before Hurricane Katrina and there is no reason that it shouldn’t continue to create new economic opportunities as we recover from the storm. I believe the cruise lines will play a leading role in the recovery of the city’s economy.” (For more information: http://www.neworleanscvb.com)
Delphin Renaissance was built in 2000 and was known as Renaissance Seven or R Seven between 2000 – 2002. It was rechristened in 2003.
