Photographer’s Note
The photo was taken from Davenport, a cute suburb a short ferry ride from downtown Auckland. The parallel between the plant's roundness and tall fronds and the distance skyline caught my eye. Too often our cities are merely that - a pocket of a few tall building surrounded by flatlands. Auckland in particular suffers from a lack of neighborhood density. But Davenport offers a chance to look back on the city and also be amidst beautiful surroundings. Similar to San Francisco's Marin Headlands yet more accessible and less wild.
