Photographer’s Note
I'll begin by explaining the title, for those unfamiliar with North American slang. Generally used to explain slow traffic on the opposite side of the highway from an accident, rubber-necking describes the rather morbid yet inherent curiosity we humans have in another individual's suffering.
At sea, the ambulance is a US Coast Guard Helicopter that comes to retrieve a seriously ill passenger from a cruise ship. With over 4000 people aboard year-round, these moments are bound to arise. When they do they are handled professionally and efficiently. No matter what the time of day, the event always draws a crowd. This time we were about 200 miles off the coast of Florida.

Not much done here. Cropped a little off the top, unsharp mask and increased brightness a little.

Great shot, Kai, really well set up along the vertical. Exemplary framing for maximum drama and tension. Like your title too!
Fine stuff indeed...

hey Kay,
I guess i don't even have to say that i like this shot...
Was i onboard that day? because if i was i would of been standing right under the helicopter... Have a look at my account and you should see a much better shot.
cheers and keep up tot good work

Olá!
That's a very interesting photo/post. Nice tribute to the Coast Guard rescuers.
It recalls me my photo Search And Rescue. 2- Rescuing.
Cumprimentos,
