Scottish castles 1 - Stirling
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Standing high above the valley of the river Forth, at the lowest crossing point of this river, Stirling castle is one of the most important castles in Scotland. The castle sits atop the castle hill, a volcanic crag, and is surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs. This made easy defending for anyone in Stirling Castle during the times of war in Scotland. During a long and bloody history Stirling Castle has been attacked or besieged at least 16 times. Three battles have been fought in its immediate vicinity, two of which were turning points in Scottish history. Time and time again, it was besieged once again; involving, amongst others, great names like William Wallace and Robert the Bruce.
This picture was taken from the top of the Wallace monument, another famous landmark of the region. |

Luc,
Nice POV and I like the mistiness of the background. However, perhaps the subject is too centered. I would try putting it off to one side and 1/3 of the way from the bottom for a more dramatic feel.

Wow, nice framing and crystal clear contrast on the castle.
Well done!
