Photographer’s Note
...ode to Balkan...
lack of chances for traveling to distant lands and places brought me more close to my own and intensed my senses for beauties and magic of this lands that I still like to call Balkan.
with nostalgia I look at everything around me and silently hope that this small beauties won't fade away completely in this process of Europe joining.
with my camera I'm creating my own photographic ode to Balkan lands while they still hold a little bit of old way Balkan charm.
during one of the first spring days in Zagreb, in old fashion street market...with song Djurdjevdan in my mind...

Welcome back Ana,
its spooky. I was actually thinking about your photos and why you havent bene around. 30 minutes ago. And now, here you are. Its happened with another person too recently. Spooky.
Nice daily life capture. While TE is a "travel site" there are plenty of people here who post exclusively photos from where they live, and in a way, I think that may have more value. We are more connected to where we live, and he photos have more depth that way. Especially in the context of a large portfolio - they tell a story one or 10 photos could never do. So yes, tell us the story of your Balkans. We will listen.

hi Ana, after the note which was a great pleasure to read, the photo has much more meaning and with the note the story starts to appear in the picture. you're right, the best stories about places are told by people who live there since they know the place best, and here we see what everyday life is like there, nicely cayght, i like it.
best regards
A.

Ana,
I like this image. You can't avoid the story behind those people. I heard a lot about Croatia, hope to visit there soon.

Proljece na moje rame sljece...
Stvarno si uhvatila jako zanimljiv trenutak. I mene ovo malo podsjeca na pravi Balkan u smislu jedne nepostojece zemlje. Super sto je u B&W i super sto si se vratila na TE. Pozdrav. maki

Hello Ana, so you are back! Great to see you posting again. Look forward to your series a lot, I love your style and images. The topic of the Balcans will be very interesting with your eyes.
This one is a superbly rendered b/w. Very nice tones and a great moment caught. Love the smiling vendor lady in the back by her truck. A flee market. I can hear the music from The Times of the Gypsys!
Take care,

Hello Ana. Its nice to see you putting on some of your lovely work. I'm glad you're capturing the way things are- its important to remember those kind of things. The way the woman is tipping her hat (at least it looks like a hat)is a great way to start it off. I'll look for the next ones. :)

(And PS- nice job on your 100th photo)

Hi Ana,
love your image on B&W, the smiling ladies and the atmosphere you share with us.
Your note transpire about the love of your land and the desire to keep alive all small fading things.
Just discover now your gallery but will follow in the future. Your image also gave me back some atmosphere of a beautiful book I recently read of Nicolas Bouvier "L'usage du mond" where the Balkan section told about life on 1953...
A smile
