Lamp at Daylight Photo

Photographer’s Note

This pic is dedicated to Teresa ;) When I first saw the lamp turned on in the middle of the afternoon, I couldn't help to stop thinking of her photos...

Pinhão is located at the heart of Douro Wine Region, a cultural landscape enlisted as World Heritage since Dec 2001. Pinhao itself is not a particularly beautiful town, but it has an outstanding hotel and the railway station deserves a visit, because of its typical Portuguese tiles. From Pinhão, you may take a tour in historic trains or a relaxing river cruise. In the sorroundings are located the best and most glamourous Port Wine farms (called Quintas). See here the location of those you may visit.

Just beautiful the way the hill reflects on the water, good colour in the sky. About the lamp it really makes the difference and the image even better...romantic :)
I'm sure Teresa will love it...

Quite a nice shot Beijo,

the reflection is great. I sort of would love to have seen a 1:1 division of the frame with the water line in the middle. It would heighten the feeling of symmetry. Tjough I understand that it would nave been difficult without cutting the lightpost. I like the composition a lot nevertheless. The clarity is fantastic, the depth is excellent..the light is a cool element, almost out of place here. Dry today, sorry. C ya tomorrow.

Tsst!!!tssst!!!!tsssttt! é a conta deste desperdicios que estamos tão bem financeiramente :-( Voltando à foto, tens aqui uma bela composição, com belas cores no monte e ceu, gosto da forma com enquadraste o candeeiro na foto. Os reflexos capturados na agua estão tambem muito bons, e estariam perfewitos não fosse a ligeira ondulação.

Hi Beijo,
The reflection and the depth created by the lamp makes this picture very strong. That the lamp is burning is an extra bonus, makes it more a point to focus on.

Gosto muito da simetría da composicáo, só quebrada pelo lampiáo (é correto assim, lampiáo?).

A exposicáo, luz e cores estáo no ponto justo; e os reflexos... maravilha!

Simple but so well seen and composed. The light (on) provides a lot of originality ans strength to the compo and even the place. The reflection is OK too, maybe just a little too much in the center. Whatever, a good shot.

Hello Beijo.
A beautiful view with the reflection and the lamp, which makes this landscape quite diferent.
You could have underexposed a little to get more detail in the clouds, particularly on the right. Then you would have had to bring out detail in the shadows, but that's not a problem, particularly with a camera with such a good sensor as the 350D (I know because I have one, too). Nevertheless, this is still very good as it is.
I might have saturated it a little more, too, but not to the extent to make it look unreal. This, however is personal, and it's really fine as it is.
By the way, coming from a wine growing country myself, I would love to see this area that you mention in the note.
