The Duesseldorfer Altstadt (old town)
is famous as the longest bar of the world.
But these older gents drank their beer rather
sitting in the baggage hatches of their bus
with a view on the Rhine.

Hallo Hermann,
I find this photo funny and amusing at the same time. By using the b&w medium you were able to add a timeless effect on the photo. Looks like the guys are enjoying their bottle of beer.

Its a well seen image and rather amusing image but technically I feel there are errors.I think the shot is overxposed and as a result has burned out the highlights,in addition I am not sure that the gentleman on the right is part of the shot and I would have cropped him out

Hermann bonsoir - nice and real - the german beer is great (I don't drink beer or alcohool but in Germany, I drink german beer) - the BW works well on this shot -

Life is good with a beer, a little sunshine and some old friends to talk with and of course a watchful photographer to capture it for is. It could have been a very colourful picture :-)

I kind of like the very contrasty shot. The really blow out whites are kind of attractive for me. I shot a lot of B&Ws like that.

I thought that the "view" was a joke on the man on the right. Pretty funny I thought.

Hi Hermann, It looks that the old gents enjoyed their special seating while taking a break during the long distance traveling. I'd crop the guy on the right hand side, which ruined the relax environment a bit because of his gesture :D

Il n'y a pas d'endroits pour boire une bonne petite bière bien fraîche, se désaltérer lors d'une halte, profiter d'un rayon de soleil et se raconter de vieilles histoires !
Idée originale très bien réalisée.

The image is a little bright on the whiter areas but I don't agree with cutting the fourth guy out - for me he adds to the humour of the shot - fetching out more supplies - rooting around for them - it is a happy little candid image - one can imagine their friendship and conversation!

EIne einfache und doch klasse Aufnahme.
Sehr gute Auswahl der S/W Fotografie.

Bezüglich deiner Frage zu DRI, ja, Belichtungsreihe (9 Stufen a 1 Blende runter...) und in PS kombiniert (d.h. helle Lichter markiert und auf darunter liegende Ebene reduziert...)

Ich kann dir ein super Link auf Deutsch zukommen lassen, danach kannst du auch zaubern :-)

It's true there is over-exposure on the left, but I like the photo for the story it tells. Maybe these older men did not want to stand at the long bar, preferring to rest their legs by sitting at the only place available to them. I tried a crop of the OE and the man on the right but compositionally I didn't think it worked as the men were then looking directly out of shot. The B&W fits with the age of the men.

Hallo Hermann,
du hast einen guten Blick für lustige Motive. Die Rentnerband mit ihren Bierflaschen wirkt gemütlich. Der Kontrast in deinem Bilde ist vielleicht eine Spur zu hart. Der Mann ohne Kopf mit dem Rücken zu dir wirkt auch ein wenig fehl am Platze. Trotzdem ein gutes Bild.
