[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is my third in the Tall Ship Race series. We are looking at the SEDOV, named after the Arctic explorer Georgy Sedov. The ship was built in 1921 by KRUPS. This 4 mast barque sailed under the name Magdalena Vinnen in the Nitrate trade with Chili, later it went into the grain trade with Australia. In 1936 it was renamed Kommodore Johnsson.
After WWII it became Russian. It is, together with its sistership Krushenstern ( in the background), one of the last Cape Horners.
Home base Murmansk.
It takes passengers-
Sail: 3.971 m2
122 m.
beam: 14.2 m
draught: 6.5 m
Tonnage: 3.709

Wow!! What a great picture of the SEDOV. She is great!

A very impressive shot, John. The SEDOV is a very beautiful ship, and you captured her in all her glory. The small boats on the left make for an interesting contrast, and an engaging addition to your composition. I also like the "big sky" with the impressive clouds in the back. Together with your note, this posting is a great success. Congratulations.

Bien vu John

Superb shot, the barques are truly beautiful and the inclusion of the yellow and red sail makes a lovely contrast.

It must be an amazing to see these ships not only on pics like us. Surrounded by all these small modern boats they look even more majestic.

Great shot. Nice composition and colors

And this one is even better, John. 4 masts! The sea looks like a painting. if I ignore the small boats, it looks like a beautiful convoy. Well done, John.

I'd never seen sailing ships before and I could only imagined how big they are. By getting the catamaran in view, the scale is pretty descriptive.

Pretty colours for this very pretty photograph. (That these old boat are beautiful). seen well.

John I like this shot very much, the smaller sailing craft adds greatly to the overall picture, wonderful colour and a great feeling of space. very well captured. Joe.

Bonjour John
