Photographer’s Note
And with two paddles on the Monocacy River just where it goes under the C&O Canal Monocacy aquaduct. The river was so still that the ripples from the kayak were the only disturbance of the mirrored river.
It was a beautiful day in a beautiful park, part of the huge Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park, which follows the route of the C&O along the Potomac River for 184.5 miles from Washington, D.C. to Cumberland, MD. The canal operated from 1828-1924 as a transportation route, primarily hauling coal from western Maryland to the port of Georgetown in Washington, D.C. The canal's towpath provides a nearly level, continuous trail through the spectacular scenery of the Potomac River Valley. We took lots of photos while on a safari searching for bicycles in the wild.

Very nice photo, Lois! I like the way the canoe brokes the dirty mirror and modify the water texture. You had positioned the camera nicely and had captured the paddle with nice timing. Cheers!

Nice capture! I love the composition and the contrast. It seems a little noisy to my eye, which shouldn't happen at ISO 200 with your camera. Perhaps the graininess is a result of compression. But this is a lovely, atmospheric shot.

I like how the surface of water changes in the front, and behind the boat!
The composition is great, too!
Good job!

A very interesting and original picture, thanks to the bright light playing on the small waves behind the kayak. A very nice catch.
All the best,
Emmanuel
