Photographer’s Note
Rising 32.5 m high, Farilhao is a rock 20 m south of the cliffs of Ilhéu Grande of the Islet of Vila Franca do Campo, Sao Miguel, Açores and is crowned by a few fescue plants. Legend has it that young men would profess to their love by jumping from the ledges of Ilhéu Grande seen in the shadows on the left. Vila Franca do Campo is in the background. The largest ledge broke off and fell into the sea during the earthquake of September 2005.

Great persepective and interesting and informative note. The colouring of the rock is very well achieved. I also find the eye being drawn between to cliffs to the background mountains and sky.

Hi Bruce,
I'm seeing another splendid picture of S.Miguel Island. This place I stayed by one hour with a great hazy and grey day in a stay of 3 days in this Island 2005 year at May. Not good luck for me with this weather, bad light conditions and a new camera. I must thank to you this great approach and also a quality picture that you present us. What I see from your work you are a great photographer with great equipment and insight. I'm a amateur that took some pictures in voyages and I took some here for experience for me and posts at TE last year for sharing with the world and show also this beautiful preserved Island and nature. I promise a link to my posts about S.Miguel and I will do in my near second future post dedicating the picture to you and also to other interesting esoteric notes and view photographer that is NATURALLAND. What is promised is given. Sincereally I didn't notice this Rocky Islander here because my high point of view, great distance and time. This is a excelent one that you captured so well captured and vertical framed. Great piece rocky of nature so well rendered by you. Meanwhile, I will make a Linkage to this near place in bad conditions Here_1: Link and to Mosteiros View Here_2: Link
All the best to you and great Rocky Islnder capture that you did with so excelent quality.
Fernando
