Photographer’s Note

This is one of my classes just recently .They are students at the Buddhist University and they are studying for a BA degree in Humanities, majoring in English Language. Here they have been set some work to do in groups of 4. Later, they will compare there findings with the other groups. This way of working is very Western. Thaïs have not tradition of this. Their tradition is for passive learning. They expect the teacher to speak and they write down what he says, without question. The idea of interactive learning is alien to their culture, but, because it is necessary for the teaching of language, I have introduced my students to it and, after the come to understand it, they enjoy it very much.
