Photographer’s Note
This is one of my classes just recently .They are students at the Buddhist University and they are studying for a BA degree in Humanities, majoring in English Language. Here they have been set some work to do in groups of 4. Later, they will compare there findings with the other groups. This way of working is very Western. Thaïs have not tradition of this. Their tradition is for passive learning. They expect the teacher to speak and they write down what he says, without question. The idea of interactive learning is alien to their culture, but, because it is necessary for the teaching of language, I have introduced my students to it and, after the come to understand it, they enjoy it very much.

Bonjour Kevin,
Magnifique cliché avec ses teintes orangées éclatantes et cette ambiance studieuse mais inhabituelle de par les vêtements en Europe. On s'attend pûtôt à voir ces moines dans un monastère sombre.
Amicalement

There's some excellent light in the photograph and the colours are great.
Nice to see that your students are into their study. My students are the complete opposite!

What a beautiful picture, Kevin. Appart from the fact that I feel allways attracted by these monks in their orange robes you set them in such a beautiful light and the colours are amazing. Great capture.

great one, very original and fresh in the theme of buddhist monks. I really like the compo, but also this feel of "being inside"

nice shot, very unuisual indeed. (monks in a classroom sit in rows, watching the teacher explain by the board) just excellent composition and quality too. good work.

Hello Kevin,
j'aime bien cette compo en diagonale.
La lumière de la fenêtre est aussi intéressante.
C'est plein de détails, certain étudiants sont bien concentrés, d'autres plus cool...
Bien vu

Hi Kevin,
Excellent shot, perfect light. The subject itself is so unusual. We are more used to seeing these buddhist monks in monasteries rather than in study rooms.
Keep up the good work.

Hi Kevin - the robes look more comfortable than the uniform I had to wear when I was their age, it makes for a photogenic classroom when they are gathered in colourful clusters, well done.

This is great. The light is beautiful and I love the simplicity of the colours--orange, blue, and white. I really like the natural, intimate feeling that you were able to capture. Except for the fact that they are dressed in saffron robes, they could be students anywhere.
BTW, how does the university work? Are all or most of the students monks or novices? What do graduates go on to do and do most of them stay in the monkhood?

hi kevin,
A good composition, with the colours, light (especially coming through the window), sitting arrangement.
This reminds me of my post of Garlands due to the colour combination, shades of orange, but on different subject.
regards,
pinakie
