Photographer’s Note

Sinan, commissioned to build this mosque next to Bozdoğan Aqueduct in memory of Mehmet, the son of Süleyman the Magnificent who died at a very young age, describes as his “apprentice work” in modesty. The mosque, built between 1544-1548 is the first great work of the master; Şehzade Mosque stands at the crossroads of Haghia Sophia and the first steps of the great master on the wayto become the brilliant head architect of ottoman empire.
