This is the first of many postings I'm hopping to do in the upcomming times...

The north beach of Nazaré makes you feel amongst giants because everything there is so huge: the dunes, the cliffs and the waves... surfers go there just to see the waves breaking, as furious as you can possibly imagine, and then some more.

It is so savage because the ocean is very deep just until 10 km from land, and you actually can see the dark deep water from up the cliffs.

I took this photo some few minutes before I started to run back to the car, get my wetsuit on and run into the water :)

Not much science in this one, just point & shoot... but I still think it is not badly framed and I mannaged to capture the color of the water, which was so vivid...

Hi Rui,welcome to TE. Your shot is great. I can almost feel the freshness of the wave. But it must have been better to be there in front of the great wave. You have captured the motion very well. The framing is good. I think the colors are also close to the real thing. Thanks for sharing. Behice.

Great shot Rui, you caught that wave at precisely the right moment just as it was breaking. I bet the guy in the forground had a good ride. Great colors also.

Muito boa! Conseguida no momento certo!

Só mesmo na Nazaré para ter o mar desta cor!
Parabéns!

hi rui
Good work this first posting at TE. The wave is cought well and presents details in a very fine way - good total result in this one. The little inclusion of the beach is well for the balance of the compo

Hi Rui!
That's one heck of a wave!!! I bet that you had a good session that day! I've been bodyboarding for 14 years and went 4 times to Portugal. You have some crazy waves there! Never surfed in the north, but after this photo, I think that I'll go and have a look! Was the right opening as much as I dream of?

As you said, not much science in this photo, but only those who surf can understand the perfection of this wave and the excitement of the lucky you who's taken it!
Nicolas
