Photographer’s Note
Buddhist monks climbing up to reach the top of Angkor Wat temple ruin.
(Ok, I know there's already an excess of Angkor shots here at TE - But anyway, here's my two pence worth...)

Hello Pekka,
Wow what a snap.Excellent focus. The stones look great. The monks' dresses create an excellent composition. The light on the monks is also absolutely perfect.

I like the light on the 2 monks - and their action of climbing up the temple makes for a fantastic shot.
Having been in the same spot - i know those monks are probably going to ask for money from the only other people up their - tourists - ok well maybe not all monks will but I was asked to give after participating in a chat with some, which is always an interesting experience.
Nice work,
dave.

Hei Pekka,
It's even greater achievement to give a new angle on a popular place! Excellent combination of monks, buildings and green backgound, which looks like a painting because of strong light and haze.

I like the photo really much. It shows the history of Angkor in real.
These steps were constructed in a very steep way because the people thought and still think that the way to heaven is very hard. That´s why they built those steep steps: To get the experience of the hard way to heaven...
Thanks for sharing...
P.S.: I would like to recommend to add this one to the category 'daily life' as well...

Great pov, i like that you captured a couple of monks, and no one else. i found it very dificult to take any original pictures at Angkor.

Very good light, and good diagonal deepness. Monks are going up crossing diagonal way.
As sayd before, backside looks little bit like painting.
Thanks Pekka

I love this shot. I like the impact the splash of orange colour makes against the monochrome backdrop - I've tried to create a similar effect with my Roma Red Bus shot.

Excellent shot Pekka. You got the monks at an appropriate moment of climbing the steep stairs. Wonderful colour contrast & clarity. Just wondering from where you took this shot?

Amazing shot! I like the perspective of this pic, the "eden" look alike background. There's an entire story coming out of this single picture.
Well done!
