A Bela e o Monstro Photo

Photographer’s Note

"The Beauty and the Beast" is the too obvious title for this picture, therefore I wrote it in Portuguese, just to puzzle English-readers ;-)
This is another typical scene in San Diego Bay: graceful sailing boats share the waters with the big boys of the US Navy, like this aircraft carrier, which is the USS Nimitz (CVN-68) (if I saw well), moored at Coronado's Naval Air Station North Island.

Hi Francisco,
Good combination of totally different vessels. Excellent weather, although it's always a bit hazy on those big cities. And light of midday is flat. There seems to be quite a lot of noise on even surfaces. I guess we can blame the camera for that.

I like the idea of this shot. The yacht is well contrasted to the huge aircraft carrier there.
And the view of sailors sitting on the edge of the boat is very peculiar. I think there is a possibility to increase the colour factor.

Hi Franciso,
Excellent title, nice sharp focus on the sail boat. I think we saw the Nimitz coming in the other day. The time before when we were at the fish market there were no active carriers in port, which was surprising sight for us.

Gostei do contraste entre este pequeno barco de recreio e o grande navio da marinha.
Só é pena a definição da imagem não ser das melhores...provávelmente porque foi un scan.

ha,ha, bem apanhada esta cena altamente contrastante e boa escolha para o título, Francisco. A qualidade de facto não é a melhor, mas o grão não me incomoda e a composição está muito boa. Gosto de ver o pessoal todo sentado na borda da 'bela' a posar para a fotografia :)) Como disseste, visto daqui, o 'monstro' não parece assim tão grande.
