Photographer’s Note
This is a shot from a vantage point adjacent to the Forum of the Victor Emmanuel II monument in Rome (a recent build, starting in 1885); The flying horses and chariots at the top are what any self-respecting public building would have had in Ancient Rome. They are bronze quadrigae with winged 'Vittorie'
The enormous white marble monument at the Piazza Venezia was built as a tribute to the first King of a united Italy, Victor Emmanuel II. It also houses the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and is considered as the altar of the Italian land
