Photographer’s Note
This is the tip of Mount Ruapehu, in the Central Plateau in the North Island. There are two volcanic mountains here, this one and another Mt Ngarahoe which was used as Mount Doom in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (I'll post pics of this another time). Believe it or not, this photo was taken from inside a car travelling at 100km/hr down the Desert Road, I just zoomed in and took a chance.

This is where we skied as school kids so great to see it again. You have capture the steepness of this mountain very well indeed. Good colours and the diagonal is good. Well done.

Hi Julie
This is a beautiful photo and well taken from your vehicle.
The colour is great as is the light.
Good composition and perfectly timed to capture that cloud reaching down to gently touch the mountain top.
Have a great week

Peter

Excellent zoom Jules, you have done well here. It is such a great trip on the Desert Road when it is fine - super views! I've not been down it with my digital camera yet!!
Ruapehu looks nice and sharp and especially with the blue sky behind. Well done,
Janice

A very nice shot Julie, especially since it's taken from a high speed car. You've got good clarity despite that
