Photographer’s Note
Chandra Tal (Moon lake) is already pretty well covered on Trek Earth but I though I should add one of my own pictures.
It really is a beautiful and peaceful place.
To anyone planning on going there I would strongly recommend making a trek of it by carring on up the Chandra river valley for three additional days to reach the Baralacha La - for my money the best short trek in the western Himalayas.

It would be a perfect picture if the sky was a bit more blue. I suspect it was a bright day, well can't say much cause can't find your shutter speed and F.

Wonderful image with an absolutely perfect reflection. The shadow areas are particularly dark (on my monitor) and ND grad could have held the detail in the sky, to match that in the reflection. If the sky did have the detail that is visible in the reflection this would have been absolutely stunning instead of 'just' very good.

Hi Rich!
A fascinating view of this well-covered destination. The perspective you have chosen for this shot is excellent. The angle of light is just perfect and the mirror image on the lake's surface is magical.

hi Rich
a beautiful reflection... just that the foreground is a bit dark... try applying Neutral Density Filter effects... btw are those a couple of men I see on that ridge moving right and upwards???
and why didn't you add it to the existing Chandratal section under Himachal Pradesh???

Rich,
Beautiful composition and a beautiful mirror like reflection. Thanks for showing this beautiful place to us. The bottom part of the picture could have been cropped a bit to get an symmetric reflection. Good capture. TFS.

you're so lucky to have actually seen the place. i want to go there really bad.
in any case, i think it would have been better if the bottom portion was cropped a bit to make the photo seem exactly symmetrical. and a bit of level controls for the sky. i usually prefer the conventional photo proportions, but since its a landscape, i guess an extended image would look good.
but it is a photo that makes me want to go there, and it is pretty jawdropping. great work!
love,
prayash
