Photographers Note
Hi,
Following on from yesterday's posting, here is another from Grimwith. Taken yesterday afternoon whilst on a walk around the reservoir. The path takes you near to this derilict barn and I thought it provided a useful subject with the wall, gate, and reservoir behind.
Grimwith is a relatively new reservoir and is owned by the local water company, Yorkshire Water. As well as being quite picturesque, the reservoir is also a santury for lots of different species of bird.
Yorkshire Water's largest reservoir is situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park between Grassington and Pateley Bridge, and in the heart of a famous mining area.
Due to limited land ownership public access is limited to a circular walk around the reservoir with further public rights of way extending across the moor.
The north-west section of the reservoir is out of use during the breeding season due the large numbers of waterfowl inhabiting this area. For this reason dogs should be kept on a lead to prevent the disturbance of any nests.
The wild, high moorlands surrounding Grimwith are private and are used nowadays for sheep grazing and grouse shooting.
In 1970 agreement was reached to enlarge the existing Grimwith reservoir, which was built in 1864 by the Bradford Corporation, to seven times its' original size. The new enlarged reservoir was designed to incorporate the original dam and involved raising the top water level by 20 metres to provide storage for 21,772 thousand cubic metres (tcm) of water.
Hope you like the scene. Take care,
John.

Hi John,
A lovely corner of England indeed and excellent light that allowed the warming of the landscape to contrast better against the cold blue of the sky. The few heavy clouds fill wall the sky, better to have them than an empty blue, but above them you have apparently compression issues, the artefacts are very visible.
Have a nice evening,
Jean-Yves

Hi John
Very pretty scenery. The light is lovely and brings out the rich colours and the gaps between the rocks in the wall and building. I like your pov, depth, the reflection and the big clouds contrasting against the blue sky.

Serwus John !
Beautiful autumn You have this snowy winter !
Lightning is outstanding in this well carried compo. All the forground's elements are charming, but maybe a bit dominating in the overall scenery. Distant view is, in my opinion, too narrow in this clearance.
...
In fact, i like this image more and more after watching it for some time. It is obviously well balanced and perfectly clear.
Great note along it.
Thank You and best regards,
Mat

Your previous critiques are excellent, the light IS wonderful. I also like your perspective, I feel like the cottage & I are tipping down the hill even the lake is quite level. I like the foreground detail with stone cottage and its stone fence. You can even see the wire that holds the stones in place.

Nice and sharp with plenty of rextures in the composition,in addition the warm sunlight shows off the brickwork really well. However there are a lot of elements near the camera and I feel that the shot is rather cluttered

Hi John,
Great picture, I love the colours. I might have cropped out a little bit of the wall on the right as it kind of dark but it's really beautiful anyway. Great shot,
Marie

Hi John,
A warm mellow scene of this lovely part of the country. There are many interesting features for the eye to absorb and you have done a good job of compromise to ensure that there is a good view of the beautiful landscape in the background. The clarity of detail is superb. Please hold your good weather until May...
