WESTHAVEN MARINA, AUCKLAND
Westhaven is the largest marina on the Waitemata Harbour and one of the largest marinas in the Southern Hemisphere. It provides secure berthage for 1,800 craft, with 1,200 marina berths.
It is one of the largest and most well-equipped marinas in the southern hemisphere. It is also in a magical position as the northern gateway to Auckland city.
It offers a large range of facilities to boat users, including launching ramps, working berths, a mast gantry, haulout facilities, yacht grids for repairs and sewage pump out facilities.
Four of Auckland’s senior boating clubs are located at the marina – the Ponsonby Cruising Club, Richmond Yacht Club, Victoria Cruising Club and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
Westhaven Marina was put up for sale in 2003. Auckland City purchased the Westhaven and Hobson West marinas for approximately $46 million in a deal with the Crown. So this now means that Auckland city's residents and ratepayers are now the guardians of one of the most beautiful parts of the city's waterfront, Westhaven Marina.
Here you can see a small part of the Marina with the Auckland Harbour Bridge built over the Waitemata Harbour that unites Auckland City side on the left to the North Shore, on the right, which is where I live about 18kms away.
You can see this marina in the last photo I posted that was taken from Sky City. Westhaven from Sky City I am standing at the lower left of the Marina in that photo to take this shot.

Hi Janice,
Another beautiful picture.
A nautical landscape with good details and sharpness, well compound and with beautiful colors. The posts of tie in the first plane give the note of color to the set.
