Great shot and interesting note. I was in Ankara and I saw many places like this. For a foreigner there is colourful scene with this small houses but You're right, people lost their hopes and dreams about better future for them and their childrens. Nice composition overlooking the house littered slopes of the hills. I like the colours of the houses and their snow covered roofs. Pity that the picture lacks a bit of shapness. Nevertheless well done!

Now after seeing this excellent shot, I realized that I have no pictures of
" Gecekondu " in my huge image bank. Many thanks for showing me this one,which ,is so succesful with the snow capped roofs, and has reminded me that I also must keep looking at these areas in order to complete my archive.

Cengiz, this is a delightful picture of this sad little settlement. The colours of the houses are bright but the grey sky matches with the tone of your note.

This is like Brazil's favelas, but with snow, what is even more dramatic. TE is a site to show also these realities.
There is some noise, but it doesn't matter much; the important here is to show the migrants' reality.

Hi Cengiz, Very thought provoking note about the difficulties of so many in many countries. The drive to move to the big cities has resulted in many similar communities in many parts of Asia also. Good photo with the snow making it look more comfortable than it likely is in reality. TFS. Murray.

Ben de Kagithane'de benzer fotograflar cektim. Hem hayatin herkesin gormezden gelmeye calistigi bir yuzunu gosteriyor, hem de bu guzel insanlarin evlerini boyamakta kullandıklari renklerle olusan doku fotografik acidan cok guzel sonuc veriyor.
Bir de bize benzer, Brezilya'da gormustum, Rio'nun arka mahallelerindeki gecekondular, kendi basina bir sanat kolu olmus, bir yigin ressam onlardan esinlenerek birseyler yapiyor v.s.

teknik anlamda bu güzel fotografa diyecek yok. kusursuz bir
ustalık eseri. öte yandan, söylenecek çok şey var...

sosyal darwinizm insanları sonunda bu noktaya kadar
getiriyor. herkesin gördüğü ama görmezden geldiği,
bildiği ama bilmiyormuş gibi yaptığı (buradan üç maymuna
selam etmek isterim) bizim insanlarımızın 'yaşam' koşullarının
