| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A trick of the light at sunset, the often uninteresting winter landscape is transformed for a brief moment by the warm colours of the setting sun. Shot at Budle Bay,(with the posts I used in the shots of the incoming snowstorm), on a very cold, but very still afternoon. Taken just after high tide, you can just make out the ripples of the ebbing tide on the posts.
Just out of shot to the right, is the newly converted Waren Mill, and to the left of the shot, the vast expanse of the bay. Although it doesn't look like it nowadays, this was once one of the biggest grain ports on the east coast in the 19th Century, with boats of 30 metres+ in length coming up to the Mill. Today as the bay has gradually silted up, there is barely enough water for small pleasure boats. |

Wonderful photo with amazing color!! Your excellent framing avoids the top of the hills and the sky while keeping the focus on the glowing trees and their reflection in the water. The little sprigs of grass show the shallowness of the water. I might have cropped out that grass but I can see from your photo that would have been wrong.
