Photographer’s Note
The Todd River runs through and along side Alice Springs (which really was named for a woman named Alice, and there really is a Spring a bit outside of town). The ‘river’ is somewhat of a surprise to most American and European folks, since it rarely has water running in it (only on average 20 days out of the year, if I remember correctly).
This shot, for me, epitomizes the best of Alice Springs; you’ll see no art galleries, no adverts for off-road tours or the best deal on a didgeridoo…all you’ll see along this walk (about an hour from the center of town) until you reach the old Alice Springs telegraph station is sky, sand, bush, and wildlife, along with the occasional, few fellow humans.
Post production: sharpened, auto contrast, auto levels, increase saturation +3, added borders.
Conditions: Clear and crisp winter’s day; about 10 Celsius, taken around 1pm.

Hi Linda
What a lovely typical outback shot. The light is incredible and you were lucky to get clouds which make the sky more interesting. I like the tree on the right. Great contrasts and colours.

Hi Linda
excellent composition, especially with the tree on the right framing the view and giving us a good idea of how dry the landscape is. The colours are rich and warm and the sky finishes off the scene perfectly.

Nice image - great colours but what I really like is the composition with the tree on the right side of the shot. It contrasts well with the red ground & the blue sky.

Hello Linda.
Really nice shot. I like the composition and colors contrast. The blue sky against the brown ground, the green of leaves and the withered bush and tree on the right.
Regards,
Alberto.
