Photographer’s Note

Ponta de São Lourenço
This is the most eastern peninsula of the island of Madeira, 9 km long and 2 km wide.
It was declared Natural Reserve in 1982 with the objective of preserving its fauna, flora and geological heritage.
This is truly a wilderness walk where you come face to face with an arid but beautiful landscape. Unique plants, such as the ice plant and many other such unusual plants, exist only in this part of the island. The colours of the sea and the rocks are dazzling.
Majestic scenery, breathtaking views, crisp clear mountain air and the amazing levada irrigation system make Madeira a walker's paradise.
