Photographer’s Note
Rosenborg Slot
Last Friday we had some heavy snow, about 10cm I guess. So when Sunday was a very sunny day, I decided to walk around in the centre of Copenhagen.
Here you can see Rosenborg Slot (Rosenborg Castle), located in the heart of the city in a park called Kongens Have (King's Garden).
Rosenborg Slot was built in 1606 by King Christian IV as his summer house. The castle is built in Dutch Renaissance style, just as Frederiksborg Slot, that I visited in December and also was built by King Christian IV. The castle is expanded several times, but got its present condition in 1624. Until 1710 Rosenborg was used as a royal residence. Nowadays Rosenborg is a museum and houses the Royal Collections. Also the exhibition of the Crown Jewels and the Danish Crown Regalia attracts many tourists.
The garden around Rosenborg is the oldest royal garden of the country and is popular among the people of Copenhagen in summer time to spend sunny days in.
The building you see on the right side of the castle is Statens Museum for Kunst, the National Gallery.
Another picture of Rosenborg, taken in summer time, can be found here.
I hope you like this winter picture from the heart of Copenhagen. :-D

Hi Lars, I am not sure if I could jump up first for this one.
Thanks for the notes about the significant of this place. You have managed to get a nice contrast with the blue sky as your background and patches of snow as your foreground. I like the repetition patterns of the windows shown in this picture. A well captured nice and clear image. Well done.

Hi Lars. Good choice with the POV on the corner like this. That castle looks really tall and not so easy to fit in its entirety. Nice shot Lars.

Bonjour Lars,
BIen vu.
Daniel.

Hello Lars,
Nice contrast between the red of the castle and the snow.
However I do find the castle abit too centered for my taste, perhaps a vertical frame?
Regards
Daniel

Bonjour Lars,

John.

Snow and blue sky together always make appealing photos. Together with this wonderful castle you have a winner. Well composed from the corner of the wall.

Hi Lars - the low winter light does justice to the charming castle, I like the way the colour of the bare branches is similar to the brick used in construction, the snow also adds a nice touch.

Erg goed werk!
Goed weekend toegewenst!

Hi Lars
A well captured photo of this building. The blue sky gives the shot great impact and the shadows add depth and some intereseting patterns. The angle is good too, as it gives the picture a three dimensional aspect.
Good work

Hoi Lars,
Erg mooie foto. Zeer idyllisch.
Stef

Hi Lars,
A very well composed shot of this magnificent structure. I love the play of light and shadow on the walls and also the pleasant blend of brown, red and white hues here. The clarity of detail allows the eye to enjoy all the fine features of architecture. The clear blue sky completes a very fine capture. Its a keeper, Lars.

Hi Lars,
The subtlety of the colours does change the atmosphere as compared to the summer scene and it is nice to watch this transformation. I like the good control of the colours and the light which gives warmth to the place. A beautifully composed shot!! Regards.

Hej Lars,
There are several things that I like here. First of all, the snow in this sunlighted scene - allways attract me. Than, the beautiful architecture, indeed, very similar with Frederiksborg Slot (that's why this sound so familiar to me). The lighting is marvellous, as well as the colors and the excellent chosen of the POV. A really beautiful image!
