Fes or Fez (Arabic فـاس [Fās], French Fès) (located at 34°3′10″N, 4°58′58″W) is the third largest city in Morocco, after Casablanca and Rabat, with a population of 946,815 (2004 census). It is the capital of the Fès-Boulemane Region.

It is one of the four so-called "imperial cities" (the others are Marrakesh, Meknes and Rabat). Fes is separated into three parts, Fes-al-Bali (the old, walled city), Fes-Djedid (new Fes, home of the Mellah), and the Ville Nouvelle (the French-created, newest section of Fes). The Medina of Fes-al-Bali, the larger of the two medinas of Fes, is believed to be the largest contiguous carfree urban area in the world.

Nice picture. It's hard to get an overview of the tannery. Good composition with the buildings in the background.

Great photo. I like the colors and the composition of this photo. I'm glad you included the surrounding buildings to give a sense of the size of the tannery.

i've seen many photos of this special place and yours is excellent; it's a beautiful perspective with the tanneries in kind of diamond, and the nice division between the upper white area and the lower area with those majestic browns.
