X-mas tree bonfire Photo

Photographer’s Note

In Norway, lots of people still use "real" x-mas trees even if plastic trees are becoming popular here too. When x-mas is over most of these real trees end up in the trash. Where I live we do it differently; we have a x-mas tree bonfire. People bring their trees, you can buy coffee or hot chocolate and waffles and hot dogs and everybody has a good time (especially the kids who seem to love hot dogs and open flames ;-)

This is my first shot with the Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel). Shot at ISO 400 with the 18-55 kit lens. To see a more "dramatic" shot of the bonfire, have a look at http://www.storheim.net

I particularly like this photo depicting daily life in your country. You have captured the glow on the people's faces from the light given by the bonfire very well. Also, great note about the reason for this event. Thanks for sharing.
I checked out your website and I think you also post the shot of the bonfire with the sparks flying all around to share with us.

Another nice composition with bright colours of the fire and dark sharp outlines of the bare branches of the trees. You have caught this at just a good time when the sun is setting or has set, but there is still some light in the sky. Doesn't look like you have much snow in your area. We have some you can have..
