Spring tide and stormy weather makes for big waves...

To shield the harbour in Bodø from the storms that batter the coast every now and then, a mole was constructed many years ago. Though it keeps the waves out of the harbour, Its not unusual that the waves get so big that they go over the mole. When the weather gets this bad, many people go down to the harbour to watch the waves battering the mole from a safe distance. Some walk across the mole, to check on their boats that are berthed on the inside of the harbour.

The picture shows a wave going over the mole. The silhouette inside the shower of water is a man. He was walking back towards solid ground when this wave struck, and he had to turn away from the wave so he wouldnt get his face filled with sea water. It was allmost midnight when this picture was taken, so the only light source was some light posts lining the mole.
