Photographer’s Note

This is one of the "peñeros" (as the fisherboats are called in Eastern Venezuela) in the Natural Park of Mochima (Anzoátegui State). I like this picture because it transmits quietness in contrast to the stress of the cities. I took this picture in the small fisherman village which is also called Mochima, before we left on one of these peñeros to one of the islands with beautiful beaches.

Mochima is one of Venezuela's national parks. It is formed by several islands and islets and is characterized by white sands, coral reefs, deep blue waters.

Unlike Los Roques, on the beaches you find a lot of palm trees to protect you from the sun. In some areas of the park, the vegetation is lush and trees are tall. On terra firma, there are also gigantic cliffs devoid of vegetation, uneven relief and slopes which fall vertically into the sea.

Hi Yvonne,

I like your photo very much. The colors and contrast look very good, and most of all it really conveys that sense of tranquiliy that you mention in the tittle.

I like the composition too, but I can see a little tilt to the left (if you see the shore-line).

I tried a very fast workshop and corrected that. Hope you like it!

Hi Yvonne,
Nice composition with these marvellous birds. The place seems to be full of beauty and peacefulness. I like the colours and light reflections on the boat. I think it would be nicer with the house cropped, even if you loose the two "peñeros" on the left - A closer look of the other ones against the light background could enhance the image. And try to use bigger sizes (you can go to 800 x 800 pixels). Still, this result is very pleasant, along with a good note. Good work!

I feel the peaceful atmosphere from this photo. Calm waters, reflections on the boat... the best for a cloudy winter day! As Cjmm already told you there's a little tilt on the left, but it's just a nit pick.

C'est une photo intéressante pour son premier plan et ses pelicans, par contre, j'aime moins l'antenne télé et la maison. J'ai tenté un Ws pour y remédier.
