Photographer’s Note

I took this photo on a patio at a beautiful little cafe called Pierre Loti. It is located in Eyup, one of Istanbul`s oldest neighbourhoods.
This little cafe was named after a well known French author who lived in Istanbul in the early 19th century. This little cafe overlooking the beautiful Golden Horn (a long and narrow bay off of the Bosphorus) was a favourite place of Loti`s to gain inspiration and contemplate life. The cafe is located on one of Istanbul`s many hills and is a favourite destination for tourists, particularly French ones. There is also a little gift shop in the cafe where you can purchase books of Pierre Loti and other souvenirs. Because of its holy location (the cafe is literally built on a hill that is a cemetery)there are no alcoholic beverages served, but you can enjoy delicious Turkish Coffee or Turkish tea in your favourite flavour..
