We flew in from Auckland nonstop to Rarotonga - the main island of Cook Islands. The funny thing is that you arrive the day before your departure if you cross the dateline from west towards east. So the sunrise was nothing new for me because I knew this day would come - I had it before - yesterday. It was great anyway with all the smells and noise from the nearby rainforest and the South Pacific knocking on the fringing reef about 100 meters off this beach. The Boing 747 landed on a airstrip just long enough to stand in front of a terminal with the size of a garage. You were looking down on it from the gangway. A tracktor fixed the big airplane on a hook and turned it around so that it could prepare for taking off again.

Wonderful colours in this shot Thomas,
looks like a postcard, or some advertisement on travel agency. Well done.

Lovely composition, and colours.
Good Work
Rob

Nice well balanced image ... maybe taking 3/4's of an inch off the top and adding that to the bottom would have made this even better?

this could be a postcard, the colors are perfect, with the silhouette of the palm tree well placed in the compo.

Beautyfull place and great photo!

Very 'postcard-ish' but nice anyway.
However I would prefer it without the shelter / hut on the left - but that's not your fault

A classic poster composition like a wallpaper from the 70´s. But it does work! Kepping the lonely palm in the corner is the trick I guess ;)

hi Thomas,
very nice shot, the palm tree on the left side ballances the shadows and the lights, i also like the orange colour of the sunset. really, a calm momment!

Hi Thomas,
Nice composition. Lovely picture and perfect colors. Thanks for sharing,
Ahmet

A classic South Sea island sunrise shot, Thomas, but nevertheless well executed and worth posting. Good sharpness and positioning of the coconut palm. Cheers . . . David
