Photographer’s Note
This is somewhere on the Jebel Sarhro massive, in the Anti Atlas mountains of Morocco. The piste runs from Tinerhir to Nekob, over the pass at Tizi n'Tazazert. As I came to a small col the view really opened up, so I stopped, put the camera on a tripod and raced back to sit on the bike.
This is a 'decisive moment' photo because it was the real start of my bike travelling obsession. Previously I'd done long trips on a bike because I had one and it was the cheapest and most flexible way to get somewhere. After my first Morocco trip it became 'the' way to travel. For a month I was exposed to the elements, exposed to the local people, and felt I really experienced the trip. I made the transition from taking holidays to travelling.
