Photographer’s Note

Ethnic photo.
Typical of Sicily's small towns in the inland.
You can see lots of men in a church gate, trying to enjoy the sunrays during winter time.
They talk of everything, from the agriculture to nonsense issues.
They are there from hundreds of years: i remember photos of one hundred of year ago and they meet in the same way.
No women anyway. This is a remain of arab domination (1000 year ago)!

What a beautiful tableau! It's like they are frozen in time. B/W works well for this composition, it brings you to an era that you are talking about.

Ciro - very well captured. The photo really highlights the massive scale of the door and the men in the shot look really interesting and alive. The atmosphere of the scene really comes across. I also really like the B&W tones. Agree with mrcrow about slight rotation to align horizontals.

this one is really impressive. the atmosphere seems to be quiet but not exactly relaxing... see the group on the left side, the man with a tie and black glasses...
good idea to let the entire door and a big part of the wall appear.

A nice scene - seems very Sicilian to me...

I don't think Geof's WS fixed the problem - the skew is a perspective distortion - you might fix that with the PS transform tool (which lets you pull at the corners) if you're not against that kind of thing.

Hi Ciro,
Very very nice photo. Strong composition You are right the photo looks like was made hundred years ago. Flavour Sicilian atmosphere.
