Photographer’s Note
This photo shows the International Finance Center in the Central district of Hong Kong Island.
I took this photo on Friday night, when I went with my kids to see the Christmas tree in Central.
Personally, I thought the 2IFC building looked more attractive than the tree - but then it is one of my favourite buildings in Hong Kong.
Two International Finance Center was one of the first photos I ever uploaded to TE, back in September 2003, so I thought it would also be a nice way to finish off 2005 with.
Tech: Resized for TE in Photoshop. Sharpened. Saved for web.
For Google Earth fans it is at:-

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the members of TrekEarth a Happy and Peaceful New Year.
Thanks Adam for another year of this great site.

The buiding dissapearing into the fog is great. On it's own it does remind me of a Christmas tee, with glittering and shining spots. The view from way up there must be great.
I really like the tilting your head bak as far as it can go angle.
Happy new year

Hello Andrew, seems a bit oversharpened to me, but remains very moody. The light vanishing through the fog adds to a surreal atmosphere. I can imagine below a futuristic city, very much Blade Runner like. Happy New Year.

Nice to see a new posting from you, Andrew, and best wishes for the new year. A fine upward perspective with good sharpness and a nice effect with the skyscraper fading into the haze. Well exposed too with the rendering of the lights.

There is something surreal to this photo.
Some resemblance to those Batman commic strips ambient of Gotham City.
Very nice picture,

Hi Andrew, nice to see you back with this beautiful presentation, a crop just after the lamp post on the right(I think) would have been much stronger to off center the main tower. Anyway, fantastic architecture and great mood, well done.
Happy New Year, best wishes and a lot of beautiful moments !

It's so nice to see you back, Andrew. And to see you return with yet another impressive Hong Kong shot - I've missed them. It's an amazing light and crispness in this image and I understand your fascination about it, as I find the architecture especially appealing - it's simply a beautiful building. And the way it merges into the low cloud ceiling creates an enchanted atmosphere. I find your composition eminent - including the lamppost top which connects it to the ground and the distant building for a horizontal perspective. The vertical perspective is well accounted for in the building itself and the slight tilt, which is brilliant. Very well done! Happy New TE Year to you too!

Andrew, you have a very well-composed shot here - the fog really shows the height of the IFC, and symbolically it shows just how important the tower is to Hong Kong, it has to be built so tall! Well done...

Bonjour mon ami Andrew,

Hi Andrew,
It's looks so high from this POV, and the fog makes it look evn higher. Wonderful shot, I like the tilt, and the gradient of grey colors - bright at the tower's top and darker on the edges of the frame. very good job.
ave a great new year.

Wow! Great and very fitting title for this unusual pic. I love the grayness of the photo, which goes well with the building fading into the mist above.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for this super picture of the sky-scrapper. It really seems to be touching the clouds if not the sky. The title is just perfect for this!
