Sunnet Odasi, Topkapi Saray, Istanbul.

Topkapi was the palace of the sultans of the Ottoman Empire. It is one of the great places to visit in Istanbul. Unfortunately is incredibly expensive for foreigners. You have to pay something around 50 euro to see everything. It might be worth it as there is a LOT to see, but still it's expensive as most turkish monuments.

In this picture is Sunnet Odasi, a building in the fourth court of the palace. It's covered by beautifully colored Iznik tiles.

The place was used in the past for circumcisions, according to the Routard guide.

note: This picture has had some light editing. I've cloned out a sign on the right side and softened a reflection in the middle.

It is one of the great places to visit in Istanbul but my hard luck that I had no friends there to guide and my only time pass was to sit and watch Sultan Ahmed mosque, here the right side line is a little distracting the rest is Ok..

Hello Patrick, Happy New Year to you!
Beautiful place you captured here. There are so many patterns created by the blue tiles. You did right to include the golden doorway, it looks really nice.

great pic of the tiles, I think it could be a little more focused, but I like it, well done

Patrick, I always find the tiled decoration of mosques and other Islamic buildings to be fascinating. Maybe the intricate work is to make up for the fact that there are (usually) no human or of living representations. Here we have a fine example - colourful and detailed.

Very nice composition. But the photo could use some curve adjestment, because there are dark areas on both sides of the photo.

well done,Colgan

thanks for the note
colours are wonderful

Bonsoir Patrick,
Philippe
Un tout petit WS pour le plaisir.

hi Patrick,
I learned just now that it is so expensive to see the palace..50 E is really very high..I guess they are trying to make out restoration expenses out of these tickets :)
nice facade..I guess I would take a little more from the right, and maybe try a perspective crop later..
rgds, fusun

You've captured some interesting detail in the tiles here, Patrick. Good exposure and you've done an excellent job in the PP that you mentioned. Cheers . . . David

I really like this - very direct, straight on, and graphical. Well done! Regards, Doug

Hi Patrick
i love the beautiful colours and repeating patterns you've captured. I'm curious how it would look if the stone floor were cropped off.
