Snow in Split Photo

Photographer’s Note

This what you can see on this photo is something extremly rare. Split is a town with a mediteranian climate and snow is something that makes joy to children and adults, paralises everything with just a few cm...and happens once a year or less. It was never snowing so early in the year lioke this year in November.
It was hard to capture it, it was night , I don't have any tripod....just sharing my joy with you :)

I love this image. Nice job on the hand held exposure! even if it is a tad soft which i would imagine it is when viewed at 100%, it has a nice feel.

I love this photograph. It looks like a Christmas card, it's so well done. If I were to offer any suggestions, ther's maybe too much snow, which can be removed if you want. I don't know how long it would have taken, but a shot taken later with some snow on the buildings would be the perfect touch. Very nice!

Jelena, this is beautiful! I love your composition. The warm golden lighting in the tower and the white light refelected variously off the surrounding buildings give a magical feel to the happily raging snowfall. An excellent night photo, too. Very well done!

This photo looks like something out of a movie poster -- Awesome! Great capture of the snowflakes and good job catching the movement without incredible camera shake in this handheld shot. This photo makes me wish I was in Split right now!

Hi Jelena,
Usually I'm not fond of photos taken during snowfall, especially if they're taken with flash.
But this one has to be an exception as these extra-white snowflakes add to an overal graphic impression you gave us - it almost works like an extra grain.
The other elements that work well here are the composition, inclusion of an old chimney down left and especially that beautiful light revealing the architecture of the church tower and the wall on the left.

This is a beautiful shot, Jelena. Exposure is excellent, the lighting on the church tower is perfect - very well done without a tripod. Nicely composed too, with the angles of the other buildings adding interest.

Ovo je najljepsa tvoja fotografija za sada. Jako si dobro uhvatila taj magicni trenutak. Cini mi se da snijeg u Splitu nije cesta pojava, pa ako vec padne to mora biti kao praznik... Ovdje u Varsavi danas - 22 C i puno sunca. Pozdrav. maki
BTW. Hrvatski sam studirao ovdje na Varsavskom Sveucilistu i stalno ga proucavam da bi svakoga dana u svakom pogledu sve vise napredovao... ;o)

i like the effect you've got here ... using the flash against the snow is difficult because of the reflection. but the result is really nice. great shot!
