More details about Yuanyang:
Buses are running from Kunming every morning end night.
Buses are running also to Luchun and my recommendation is:
Take the night bus to Luchun – a city inhibited mainly by Hani people dressing black with golden embroidery and red hat, with a minority of Yo wearing black dress and high black hat.
Near the bus station next to the market is a good place to see the traditional dress.
From there take a bus to Yuanyang and get down in Habo – some 30KM from Luchun – another Hani village located on 365 milestone.
From there go the next 3 KM on the road and look for the best location to view the “Lonely-tree Hill” on your right.
From there you can catch the next bus to Yuanyang and get down after 2:30H at Mompin (the tiger mouth viewpoint at 297 milestone) for an afternoon or sunset lookout.
Even better is to stop 6 KM earlier at the village and a nice 2H walk to the viewpoint.
From there it is 17KM to Yuanyang town where there are many hotels next to the bus station and down the main street after the main square.
Internet can be found in at least two places around the main square.
Minibus to Doysu is departing from the small market 100m up road from the bus station.
It is about 10KM to Luchun direction and 16 more KM on stone road to the left, a one houre ride cost 7Y.
Doysu better visited before noontime and the viewpoint is before reaching the village, viewing east.
From there returning to Yuanyang it is a nice 2-3H walk (with a noon stop in the nice village along the way where Hani and Yi people can be visited) to Bada lookup point where is the best sunset point looking west.
The lookup point is 200m from the road – look for a parking place and a hut on your right hand side and a walkway to the viewpoint.
There is no regular transportation back to the main road bur minibuses and tuktuks are passing there from time to time.
6Km from Yuanyang in Luchun direction there is a Hani village called Chuto – entrance fee 30Y, a good place for sunrise viewing.
In Yuanyang, the majority is Yi people recognized by the colorful square picas of cloth on there behind will the Hani can be identified by the coins on their shirts.

Hi Yuval, Very nice shot, the yellow flowers give a very nice contrast with the pale back scene. Good work

Hi,
I spent some time looking through the images of this location, and this one is my favourite.
Excellent choice of location showing terraces both wet and dry, near and further away. Beautiful foreground with those yellow flowers, bringing colour as opposed to less saturated background.

I am awestruck by the symmetrical beauty of these man-made manicured paddy fields in China. Of course, your capture of these fascinating patterns deserves full credit. Recently a friend sent me a set of similar pictures without mentioning either the name of the photographer or the locale and I was left speechless by their sheer beauty. If you so wish, I can send you one of those un-named photographs.
Regards.
