Photographers Note
A very special thank you to Colin, who posted a great photo from the Liyuan theatre in Beijing, which motivated me to go there as well.
There are a ton of theatres to choose from in Beijing to see CHinese opera, but I'm so glad I chose this touristy one, because they allowed visitors to watch the performers apply their make-up 40minutes before the show. Even though the Liyuan theatre is not a traditional one, and you won't get the 'true' Chinese opera experience, you will get the experience photographing performers before and during the show, which made it worth it to me.
Nikkor 50mm lens.

Hi Leslie
very beautifull picture. I like this insolit scene. The Sharp is beautifull on the front. Colors are also great.

Hey Les. Where in the hell are you? Nice shot here. Of course, I like the shallow DOF, but what I also like is the receding lines of the mirrors, as well as the blurrier and blurrier opera people (can you tell I have been drinking?) as they recede from the first guy. Nice colors and a good exposure too. Perhaps I wish the first operaguy was looking towards you just a bit, but overall this is really good.
Where in the world are you now?

beautiful! love everything about it. very informative, you have all the tools of the trade in sharp detail. even looks like the three artist are at different stages in applying the makeup. great compo, an effectively filled frame, lovely colours and of course gorgeous bokeh (looks like an awesome lense). congrats!

Hello Leslie,
good picture, what i really like here is that we feel the concentration of the actors during the preparation and make up.
the DOF is apropiate and the composition very clever.
Bravo.

"Maybelline?"
"Yes, maybe!"
Good morning, Leslie:
I learn 3 lessons from this photograph:
- The untired path after Colin to the theater once you determined your goal.
- The value of picture (light & composition)
- Informative note to share with those who have same interest.
For all of those, I owe you more than just saying "thank you" with due respect.

Hi Leslie
Cool image. The make-up session is captured in true motion.
For such image, I prefered to focused at the second performer to balance up the blurness of the front and the rear.
Very well documented image, Leslie.
Merry Christmas.
