This post continues from my previous post of Bryce Point.

This post shows another view of the Canyon from Bryce Point. The white snow looking caps on the rocks towards the bottom third of the picture are not snow, these are the natural colors of the stone and soil. The colors of the whole canyon change throughout the day depending on the sunlight (this was taken in the morning sun). The canyon also has a completely different look during winter (when it does snow).

A little about how Bryce Canyon got its name:

Ebenezer and Mary Bryce were early Mormon settlers in the Canyon in 1875. The following is quoted from a plaque at Bryce Canyon:

"Ebenezer dug ditches to take water out of Paria Creek for irrigation purposes and built a road to the timber to obtain logs for house, fences and firewood. The people of Cannonville, three miles down Paria Creek, also used the road to get timber and wood, and they called the Canyon "Bryce".

And hence the Canyon began to be known as Bryce Canyon (even though the Bryce's left the Canyon in 1880).

[cont quote]

...It is remarked of the Canyon, "It's a hell of a place to lose a cow."

well done picture, with great commentary. I look forward to seeing the others in this series you have composed.

Hi Brajesh
I prefer this one from the previous one. Playing more with highlights and shadows, the shot is more impressive. Sharpness is also better.
Good job and note

Hi Brajesh,
Canyon are truly impressive places! And here, an impressive picture to match it! I also prefer this one, for the play of light and shadow. You manage well the contrast between highlights and shadows. Sharpness is good too. Excellent note! Very well done!
Claire
