November mood Photo

Photographer’s Note

Another picture from that very inspiring (at least, for me!) St.Lawrence River. It's the same place as my first post on TE. And the same day of this foggy one. I didn't want to open up to much the low lights of the path since a like it that way, and since it was that way.

I find that those saturated pictures often loose their brightness in the web. So, I'm still trying to figure out how to do a proper PP. If you have suggestions, please be free to tell me!

Bonjour Claire,
tu apprends très vite, en quelques mois tu es arrivée à faire des photos superbes.
J'aime beaucoup l'atmosphère de celle-ci et le rendu de cette brume inquiétante.
Bon rendu égelement des couleurs d'automne à l'avant plan malgré les faibles lumières.
Un cadrage bien étudié aussi.

L'idée de croquer du même point des paysages qui varient selon la saison me plaît beaucoup, et quelle belle scène automnale. J'adore ces contre-jours brumeux si mélancoliques.

Critique time ... from where do you want me to start. Okay lets start with inspiration ... i would say that this photo is good for inspiring you only ... lols
Sorry I just could not resisit it. I do like this photo, you might know that I love the photos of fog and trees and it is for that reason I like this photo.
I would agree with you in staying with the original mood by not enhancig the saturation. I like this photo for what it is.
If I were really nit picking I would have said that I would have liked to take this photo with a bit of a lower POV in order to get a greater view of the path ... besides that it is all gold.

Hi Claire - the fog indeed gives it a special atmosphere, I think it's fine the way it is, great composition as well, aah I miss Qc, though November and early December the weather can be depressing, after the bright autumn colours and before the often bright but bitter cold and windy winter days.

tu nous distille pas petite dose tes photos, je vois qut t'es toujours a la recherche de la perfection, l'ambiance de cette photo est trés reposante même si le soleil n'est pas là, le cadrage est lui aussi trés recherché, attention de pas tomber dans l'eau...

c'est superbe cette brume... J'ai apprécié d'avoir le lien dans ta note sur la photo du même endroit mais sans brouillard ! c'est extra... là on ne voit pas les monuments. La brume donne une ambiance très belle et la perspective du chemin qui s'enfonce dans la forêt est bien vue.

Hi Claire,
This is a fine composition that delivers good ambience. The mist on the river is very effective in conveying a somber late autumn mood. If I were to use PP on this shot, I would lighten up the pathway and trees a little and then use a clarify or contrast tweak to allow the leaves to shine somewhat. I may try a WS. Yet the shot is effective and worthy as it is. Regards.

Une photo qui est presque parfaite mais qui manque peut être de clarté et de contraste. Je crois que l'ensemble est un peu frop fade à mon goût et ceci devrait pouvoir être corrigé par un coup de niveaux et de courbe avec CS.
Côté compo, rien à dire, parfait!

I can't quite define what it is I like about this photo, but I'll try.
The land part, whilst dark and moody is very sharp and clear. At 1/160sec it is not a slow speed and the DOF has allowed the detail to be brought out. I love the way the leaves and grasses are etched on the mist. There is something we can't see properly at the end of the path and that gives the image mystery. Well done

Moi je l'aime bien telle qu'elle est ton image, sans retouche
Ce que je trouve interressant, c'est la finesse des détails de l'image et ses teintes
Ton ouverture à f9 est un bon choix car celà te donne un meilleur piqué, une meilleure définition de ton image avec ton objectif
As tu vraiment beaucoup perdu en netteté et couleurs en postant ici?
Si oui, comment doit être l'original... :o)
Ton cadrage est bien vu, bien équilibré, et j'aime cette échappée du sentier (avec quelqu'un au bout non?) qui va se perdre sous les arbres

Nice details in the darker part of the photo. so very fitting for the fall season too. Add to that the leaning tree breaks up the lines very nicely too. A very good reminde of what the weather is like here on the West Coast too.

Tout d'abord je dois dire que cette photo retransmet tres bien l'ambiance d'un mois de novembre telle qu'on peut aussi la vivre en Europe.Le resultat c'est qu'il y a peu de couleurs. Tu as du plus forcer sur la saturation que d'habitude pour faire ressortir les feuillages d'automne du cote droit, vu les conditions c'est normal et je trouve ton dosage mesure. L'exces de sharpening ne saute pas aux yeux et je trouve bien que tu n'aies pas eclairci le chemin, ce n'est pas le genre de photo qui saute aux yeux pour ses couleurs claquantes et c'est aussi ca force, les details apparaissent par impregnation apres l'avoir regardee qq temps. Moi j'aime bien !

cette image m'évoque les paysages de chez moi, en Picardie, à cette saison. Très belle brume et cadrage réussi avec ce petit sentier. Bravo !
