The Golden Land Photo

Photographer’s Note

That image was took from the Postal Boat between Mandalay and Bagan. It was the late afternoon at sunset time, when, after more than 12 hours of travel we arrived to Bagan.
The golden light of the sunset changed the colours to the hills, the river water and the banks; we could see some pagodas on the top of the hills.
We were in Bagan, the Golden Land.

I agree, the colours are gorgeous. I also like how the right hand side is darkened. Perhaps the pic would have been better with a motive proper. But htn again who needs it with such cloudscapes. A fine study in light!

Hi Paolo,

Beautiful shot. I have never seen Bagan from this side - I took the "lovely" bus from Mandalay to Bagan so it is really nice to see it from a different angle.

Very nice light on those hills with the pagoda in the background. Hope to see more of your images from Bagan.

YOu have captured the beauty of this boat ride very well,
beautiful light and coulour. Love the reflection.
I think that you should crop the right side a bit as its kind of too shadowy.

Strange shot. I dont know what it is about this photo. If its the POV or the soft focus or the huge size of the ripples compared to the cliffs in the back, but it looks like this isnt a real place but a model of a place. I like the illusion, it makes this phoot intriguing. Maybe a bit dark on the right side, especially in the lower righthand corner.

Late afternoon lights always make a subject stand out beutifully like this photo. If you crpped it closer and omit the dark part on the right hand side this will be better.
