Photographer’s Note
Taken in a tiny rural village in Fianarantsoa province. The father plays his guitar and metal harmonica while his children play a kabosy and homemade wooden harmonica. This photo was taken outside at night with a flash, hence the weird lighting, and scanned from 35mm. They crossed the rice paddies at night from a neighboring village, playing all the way, because they heard a music-loving foreigner was staying nearby. We had quite a fun little party that evening!

Wonderful colors and textures here, Carrie, I like it very much. And those penetrating gazes from all three musicians--wow! The lighting is a little strange, as you say, and it looks like there was a lot of postprocessing--mostly done well, though perhaps it's oversharpened. Very impressive overall. Regards, Ken.
