Photographer’s Note
An every year returning event is the coming of Sinterklaas from Spain to Holland with his steamboat to celebrate his birthday at 5 december, accompagnied by his loyal servant zwarte Piet (Black Pete). It is one of the major events in the year for a child and the event has even more impact in Holland than Christmas, while all the children get their presents not on Christmaseve but on 'Sinterklaaseve'.
Singing songs (there are a lot of special songs for the sint) is part of the ritual. After that the Sint will take his book and read what the child has done last year (He knows everything).

Hi Gart,
While I understand that you are trying to show a part of dutch culture, the picture does not convey much of the message, its more like a snapshot. It would have been better to isolate more the characters and have a blurred background and have a closer look at their faces.
Regards
Daniel
